KLANKSALON is a recurring gathering for everyone connected to new music in the Netherlands. The only time most of us see each other is a rushed hello before a concert, or a few minutes at intermission. KLANKSALON is the antidote. A few times a year we take over SoundHouse Den Haag for an evening of food, conversation, and good company. We get the people who create music in one room with time to actually talk. Each edition we invite an Eeregast, someone worth gathering around. Admission is free, and so are the borrelhapjes. Beer and wine are available at the bar. Synchromie Muziek presents "there is no place for me on this map," a program of piano music in collaboration with Dutch composer/pianist Dante Boon. Six works written in the last decade, four world premieres, and a 1962 masterwork from Elisabeth Lutyens make up this fascinating and personal program from Boon in his first collaboration with Synchromie. Boon describes the program as consisting of "existential music by Zvezdina and Saunders, serialist music by Lutyens and algorithmic music by Papadimitriou, a eulogy to an algorithmic composer friend in the “Berceuse in memoriam Clarence Barlow,” a send-off for a friend leaving the Netherlands by Driessen, and a nocturne for the pianist Beth Levin by Dennis Báthory-Kitsz."
